GIS for Monitoring and Evaluation Course

Introduction

The GIS for Monitoring and Evaluation Course is an essential program for professionals who wish to enhance their ability to track, analyze, and evaluate development projects using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This course bridges the gap between data collection and actionable insights, empowering participants with the skills to use spatial data for effective project monitoring and evaluation (M&E). With an increasing focus on data-driven decision-making, GIS has become an indispensable tool in understanding the impact of interventions across sectors such as health, education, agriculture, and urban development. Participants will learn to utilize GIS software to visualize and interpret project data, enabling them to make informed decisions and effectively communicate project outcomes.

Throughout the course, participants will gain hands-on experience with tools such as QGIS and ArcGIS, learning to collect and manage spatial data and integrate it with traditional M&E data. By combining geospatial analysis with M&E frameworks, participants will be able to identify trends, assess needs, and address program gaps, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of project implementations. Practical applications will cover mapping beneficiaries, monitoring project sites, and evaluating geographic distribution impacts, all within real-world case studies.

The course covers a comprehensive curriculum that spans from basic GIS concepts to advanced spatial analysis, tailored to meet the needs of monitoring and evaluation professionals. Topics include data visualization, spatial data collection, geostatistical analysis, and data integration for decision-making. These skills are highly relevant for organizations looking to optimize resources, demonstrate accountability, and meet reporting requirements with clear, visually compelling geographic data.

Ideal for M&E specialists, project managers, and development professionals, this course equips participants with tools to integrate GIS into their work, enabling them to gain deeper insights and showcase program achievements with precision. By the end of the training, participants will be adept at leveraging GIS technology to support sustainable development goals, demonstrating measurable impacts through spatial analytics.
