Data Privacy and Protection Training Course

Course Overview

The Data Privacy and Protection Training Course is a comprehensive professional development program designed to strengthen the capacity of government institutions, humanitarian organizations, United Nations agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), development partners, financial institutions, healthcare organizations, research institutions, educational institutions, and private sector organizations in protecting personal data, confidential information, and digital assets throughout the information lifecycle. The course equips participants with advanced knowledge and practical skills in data privacy governance, data protection laws, information security, privacy risk management, cybersecurity, digital identity management, data classification, encryption, cloud security, privacy impact assessments, consent management, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), humanitarian information management, artificial intelligence governance, and regulatory compliance. Participants develop practical competencies to establish robust privacy management systems that safeguard sensitive information, strengthen organizational accountability, ensure legal compliance, and support evidence-based decision-making.

Organizations increasingly collect, process, store, analyze, and share large volumes of personal, financial, medical, humanitarian, and operational data through digital platforms, cloud computing, mobile applications, artificial intelligence systems, online collaboration tools, and humanitarian information management systems. The growing volume of digital information increases the risk of cyberattacks, unauthorized disclosure, identity theft, data breaches, insider threats, and regulatory violations. This course introduces internationally recognized data privacy and protection frameworks, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), ISO/IEC 27701 Privacy Information Management Systems, ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management Systems, data governance frameworks, privacy-by-design principles, cybersecurity best practices, cloud security standards, artificial intelligence governance, ethical data management, and humanitarian data responsibility principles. Participants learn practical approaches to protecting sensitive information while supporting digital transformation, operational efficiency, organizational resilience, and regulatory compliance.

Throughout the course, participants gain practical experience in data mapping, privacy risk assessments, privacy impact assessments, consent management, secure data storage, encryption, identity and access management, cloud privacy controls, cybersecurity implementation, incident response, breach notification procedures, records management, retention schedules, secure data sharing, vendor risk management, compliance auditing, and organizational privacy governance. Practical exercises, simulations, collaborative workshops, and real-world case studies strengthen participants' technical expertise, analytical thinking, leadership, compliance management, and decision-making skills while promoting transparency, accountability, ethical governance, organizational learning, digital resilience, and stakeholder confidence. The course also emphasizes emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cross-border data transfers, and privacy innovation.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will possess the strategic, legal, technical, and operational competencies required to establish effective data privacy and protection programs that safeguard sensitive information, strengthen cybersecurity, improve organizational governance, ensure regulatory compliance, reduce operational risks, protect stakeholder trust, and support sustainable digital transformation. Organizations will benefit from enhanced information security, stronger compliance, improved operational resilience, increased donor and customer confidence, reduced legal exposure, and responsible data governance.
