Course Overview

The Humanitarian Diplomacy and International Relations Training Course is a comprehensive professional development program designed to strengthen the capacity of humanitarian organizations, government institutions, United Nations agencies, international and local non-governmental organizations (NGOs), diplomatic missions, regional organizations, development partners, and civil society organizations in advancing humanitarian objectives through diplomacy, international cooperation, strategic partnerships, and effective global engagement. Participants develop practical competencies to build strategic alliances, influence humanitarian policy, strengthen international partnerships, and facilitate effective humanitarian action within complex political and diplomatic environments.

The growing complexity of humanitarian crises, armed conflicts, forced displacement, climate change, pandemics, and geopolitical tensions requires humanitarian leaders to effectively navigate international relations while maintaining humanitarian neutrality, impartiality, independence, and humanity. This course introduces internationally recognized frameworks including international humanitarian law, international refugee law, the Geneva Conventions, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Humanitarian Programme Cycle (HPC), the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), humanitarian diplomacy principles, conflict-sensitive programming, and international cooperation mechanisms.
