Course Overview

The Humanitarian Project Cycle Management Training Course is designed to equip humanitarian professionals, development practitioners, government officials, project managers, emergency response coordinators, monitoring and evaluation specialists, and humanitarian program officers with the knowledge, practical skills, and strategic competencies required to effectively design, plan, implement, monitor, evaluate, and close humanitarian projects. Effective Humanitarian Project Cycle Management (HPCM) ensures that humanitarian interventions are needs-based, accountable, efficient, evidence-driven, and aligned with international humanitarian standards while delivering measurable results for crisis-affected populations. This course provides comprehensive training in Humanitarian Project Cycle Management, humanitarian needs assessment, project identification, project design, results-based management, logical framework approach, theory of change, risk management, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), humanitarian information management, Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), resource mobilization, donor compliance, digital project management, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and adaptive management to strengthen humanitarian preparedness, emergency response, recovery, resilience, and sustainable development outcomes.

Participants will develop practical competencies in humanitarian project planning, stakeholder analysis, needs assessment, proposal development, budgeting, procurement planning, implementation management, monitoring systems, performance measurement, digital data collection using KoboToolbox and ODK, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Artificial Intelligence applications, Microsoft Project, Power BI dashboards, risk assessment, financial management, humanitarian reporting, donor compliance, quality assurance, adaptive programming, project evaluation, knowledge management, organizational learning, and project closure. Through practical exercises, simulations, group work, and real-world humanitarian case studies, participants will strengthen their ability to manage humanitarian projects throughout the entire project cycle while ensuring accountability, transparency, efficiency, and measurable impact.

The course also explores internationally recognized project management and humanitarian frameworks, including the Project Cycle Management (PCM) Framework, Project Management Institute (PMI) Principles, Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), Sphere Humanitarian Standards, OECD DAC Evaluation Criteria, Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Guidelines, Results-Based Management (RBM), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), humanitarian principles, safeguarding, Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), gender-responsive programming, disability inclusion, localization, ethical leadership, donor compliance, organizational governance, digital transformation, institutional strengthening, and continuous improvement. Participants will strengthen their understanding of integrated project management systems that promote accountability, resilience, innovation, collaboration, and sustainable humanitarian impact.
