Digital MEAL Systems Training Course

Course Overview

The Digital MEAL Systems Training Course is designed to equip humanitarian professionals, development practitioners, monitoring and evaluation specialists, project managers, government officials, and humanitarian information management professionals with the knowledge, practical skills, and strategic competencies required to design, implement, manage, and optimize Digital Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Systems. As humanitarian and development organizations increasingly adopt digital transformation, cloud technologies, mobile applications, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and real-time analytics, digital MEAL systems have become essential for improving data quality, operational efficiency, evidence-based decision-making, organizational learning, and accountability. This course provides comprehensive training in Digital MEAL Systems, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), humanitarian information management, digital data collection, real-time monitoring, performance measurement, results-based management, Power BI dashboards, KoboToolbox, ODK, DHIS2, Salesforce, CommCare, GIS mapping, AI-powered analytics, Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), and digital transformation to strengthen humanitarian and development programming.

Participants will develop practical competencies in digital MEAL framework design, indicator development, mobile data collection, cloud-based databases, dashboard development, Artificial Intelligence applications, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Excel, SQL databases, KoboToolbox, ODK, CommCare, DHIS2 integration, Salesforce reporting, data quality assurance, automation, predictive analytics, learning management systems, humanitarian information management, monitoring and evaluation, digital reporting, evidence-based decision-making, and organizational performance management. Through practical exercises, hands-on system configuration, simulations, and real-world case studies, participants will strengthen their ability to develop integrated digital MEAL systems that improve program monitoring, evaluation, organizational learning, accountability, donor compliance, and operational effectiveness.

The course also explores international MEAL and humanitarian frameworks, including the OECD DAC Evaluation Criteria, Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), Sphere Humanitarian Standards, Results-Based Management (RBM), Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Monitoring Frameworks, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), data protection regulations, safeguarding, Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), disability inclusion, gender-responsive monitoring, localization, ethical data management, organizational governance, cybersecurity, donor compliance, institutional strengthening, and digital innovation. Participants will strengthen their understanding of secure, scalable, and integrated digital MEAL ecosystems that improve transparency, accountability, resilience, continuous learning, and organizational excellence.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to design digital MEAL systems, automate monitoring and reporting processes, integrate GIS and AI technologies, develop real-time dashboards, strengthen digital accountability mechanisms, improve data quality, enhance monitoring and evaluation systems, strengthen organizational learning, improve donor reporting, and develop comprehensive Digital MEAL strategies that support evidence-based programming, digital transformation, and sustainable organizational performance.
