Protection Information Management Training Course

Course Overview

The Protection Information Management Training Course is designed to equip humanitarian professionals, protection officers, information management specialists, government agencies, United Nations organizations, non-governmental organizations, and development practitioners with the knowledge, practical skills, and strategic competencies required to collect, manage, analyze, visualize, protect, and utilize protection data for evidence-based humanitarian decision-making. Effective Protection Information Management (PIM) enables humanitarian organizations to identify protection risks, monitor trends, strengthen accountability, improve coordination, support protection programming, and safeguard sensitive information while respecting the rights, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality of affected populations. This course provides comprehensive training in Protection Information Management (PIM), humanitarian information management, protection data management, protection monitoring, data protection, protection analysis, humanitarian coordination, Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), protection mainstreaming, GIS mapping, digital humanitarian systems, humanitarian data analytics, and evidence-based humanitarian programming to strengthen effective protection responses.

Participants will develop practical competencies in protection information management frameworks, protection data collection methodologies, information governance, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data Analytics, mobile data collection using KoboToolbox and ODK, Power BI dashboards, data visualization, case management information systems, protection monitoring databases, data quality assurance, data protection and privacy, ethical information sharing, monitoring and evaluation, humanitarian reporting, and decision-support systems. Through practical exercises, simulation scenarios, and real-world case studies, participants will strengthen their ability to transform protection data into actionable intelligence that improves humanitarian planning, resource allocation, protection interventions, coordination, and organizational learning while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with international protection standards.

The course also explores international humanitarian and information management frameworks, including the Protection Information Management (PIM) Principles, Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), Sphere Humanitarian Standards, Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Guidelines, international human rights law, international humanitarian law, data responsibility principles, safeguarding, Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), gender-responsive programming, disability inclusion, organizational governance, localization, donor compliance, monitoring and evaluation, institutional strengthening, and ethical leadership. Participants will strengthen their ability to establish secure, accountable, and integrated protection information systems that improve operational effectiveness and humanitarian outcomes.
