Gender and Climate Change Resilience Training Course
Course Introduction
The Gender and Climate Change Resilience Training Course is designed to equip participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to understand the interconnections between gender equality, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable development. Climate change disproportionately affects women, girls, and marginalized populations due to existing social, economic, and environmental inequalities. At the same time, women and vulnerable groups play critical roles as agents of change, contributing significantly to community resilience, natural resource management, and climate adaptation initiatives. This course provides practical approaches for integrating gender-responsive strategies into climate policies, programs, and resilience-building interventions.
The course explores key concepts in gender analysis, climate vulnerability assessments, climate justice, adaptation planning, resilience frameworks, and inclusive development strategies. Participants will gain practical competencies in designing gender-responsive climate adaptation programs, conducting gender-sensitive risk assessments, mainstreaming gender into climate policies, and developing community-based resilience strategies that address the needs of diverse populations. Emphasis is placed on promoting equitable participation, social inclusion, and empowerment in climate decision-making processes.
Participants will learn international frameworks and best practices related to climate resilience, gender equality, environmental governance, and sustainable development. The training covers climate finance mechanisms, disaster preparedness, natural resource management, livelihood diversification, and monitoring and evaluation systems that promote inclusive and resilient communities. Through practical exercises and case studies, participants will acquire skills necessary for designing and implementing effective interventions that strengthen resilience while advancing gender equality and social protection outcomes.
Through well-structured presentations, practical exercises, web-based tutorials, collaborative group work, and real-world case studies, participants will develop the competencies required to integrate gender considerations into climate adaptation and resilience programs across various sectors. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will possess practical tools and strategies to promote gender-transformative climate action and build resilient, inclusive, and sustainable communities.
