Gender Analysis for Climate Resilience Projects Training Course

Course Introduction

Gender Analysis for Climate Resilience Projects is a specialized and practical training course designed to equip development practitioners, climate change specialists, project managers, gender experts, humanitarian professionals, environmental officers, policymakers, and monitoring and evaluation personnel with the skills and knowledge necessary to conduct comprehensive gender analysis within climate resilience initiatives. As climate change continues to intensify environmental, social, and economic vulnerabilities, understanding the differentiated impacts on women, men, girls, and boys has become essential for designing effective, inclusive, and sustainable climate resilience projects. This course provides participants with advanced tools and methodologies for integrating gender considerations into climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, resilience building, and sustainable development programs.

The training explores the relationship between gender equality, climate vulnerability, resilience, environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and climate justice. Participants will learn how gender roles, access to resources, decision-making power, social norms, and economic opportunities influence vulnerability and adaptive capacity in the face of climate-related risks. The course examines international frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Paris Agreement, National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and gender-responsive climate policies, providing participants with practical approaches for aligning projects with global development priorities.

Through practical exercises, field-based methodologies, participatory assessments, stakeholder analysis, and case studies, participants will gain hands-on experience in conducting gender-sensitive climate vulnerability assessments, collecting and analyzing sex-disaggregated data, identifying barriers to resilience, and designing gender-responsive interventions. The course also emphasizes climate-smart development, community-based adaptation, ecosystem resilience, inclusive governance, climate finance, and evidence-based decision-making to improve project effectiveness and sustainability.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to apply gender analysis frameworks throughout the project cycle, strengthen resilience outcomes for vulnerable populations, improve project design and implementation, and contribute to equitable climate adaptation and sustainable development. The course combines expert-led presentations, collaborative group work, practical simulations, policy reviews, and real-world examples to ensure participants develop actionable skills that can be immediately applied in climate resilience programs and projects.
