Strategic Gender and Climate Policy Development Training Course
Course Introduction
Strategic Gender and Climate Policy Development is an advanced professional training course designed to strengthen the capacity of policymakers, development practitioners, climate change specialists, gender experts, government officials, environmental managers, and institutional leaders to formulate, implement, monitor, and evaluate gender-responsive climate policies. As climate change continues to pose significant environmental, social, and economic challenges globally, there is increasing recognition that effective climate policies must address gender inequalities and ensure equitable participation, access to resources, and benefits for all segments of society. This course equips participants with practical tools and frameworks for integrating gender considerations into climate governance, policy development, adaptation planning, mitigation strategies, and sustainable development initiatives.
The training provides a comprehensive understanding of the intersection between gender equality, climate resilience, environmental sustainability, climate justice, disaster risk reduction, climate finance, and sustainable development. Participants will explore international climate and gender frameworks, including the Paris Agreement, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, and gender-responsive climate governance mechanisms. Through practical case studies and policy analysis exercises, participants will learn how to align institutional and national climate policies with global commitments while addressing local development priorities.
The course emphasizes evidence-based policymaking, gender analysis, climate vulnerability assessments, stakeholder engagement, public policy design, legislative frameworks, institutional accountability, and results-based management. Participants will develop skills in policy formulation, policy review, strategic planning, regulatory impact assessment, climate budgeting, monitoring and evaluation, and gender-responsive policy implementation. Special attention is given to inclusive governance, climate finance mobilization, social inclusion, and institutional transformation to support equitable and sustainable climate action.
By the end of the training, participants will be capable of developing strategic gender-responsive climate policies that promote resilience, strengthen environmental governance, enhance adaptive capacity, and support sustainable economic growth. The course combines expert facilitation, policy simulations, group discussions, practical exercises, peer learning, and real-world case studies to ensure participants gain actionable knowledge and practical competencies applicable within government institutions, development agencies, NGOs, donor-funded programs, and private sector organizations.
