Introduction:

The GIS for Monitoring and Evaluation Course is a comprehensive 5-day program designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to integrate Geographic Information System (GIS) technology into monitoring and evaluation (M&E) processes. GIS is a powerful tool that enables the visualization, analysis, and interpretation of geospatial data, which can greatly enhance M&E efforts. This course aims to provide participants with a practical understanding of how GIS can be used to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting for more informed decision-making in development projects and programs.

Course Objectives:

  1. Understand the fundamentals of GIS technology and its applications in M&E.
  2. Learn how to integrate geospatial data into M&E frameworks and indicators.
  3. Develop practical skills in data collection and management using GIS tools.
  4. Gain proficiency in geospatial analysis techniques for M&E purposes.
  5. Understand how GIS can enhance visualization and reporting of M&E findings.
  6. Explore the use of GIS for spatial data mapping and geospatial data interpretation.
  7. Enhance knowledge of integrating GIS with other M&E methodologies and tools.
  8. Apply GIS techniques to real-world M&E case studies and exercises.
  9. Develop strategies for incorporating GIS into M&E plans and processes.
  10. Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among participants in the field of GIS for M&E.

Organization Benefits:

By participating in the GIS for Monitoring and Evaluation Course, organizations can expect the following benefits:

  1. Improved capacity to integrate GIS technology into M&E frameworks and processes.
  2. Enhanced ability to collect, manage, and analyze geospatial data for M&E purposes.
  3. Increased accuracy and efficiency in data collection and analysis through GIS tools.
  4. Improved visualization and reporting of M&E findings using geospatial data.
  5. Enhanced decision-making through the utilization of geospatial insights and analysis.
  6. Strengthened evidence-based planning and resource allocation through geospatial analysis.
  7. Enhanced understanding of the spatial dimensions of development projects and programs.
  8. Increased collaboration and knowledge sharing among M&E practitioners using GIS.
  9. Strengthened M&E capacity to monitor and evaluate spatially dispersed projects.
  10. Improved overall M&E effectiveness and impact through the integration of GIS technology.
