Water scarcity, poor sanitation, inadequate hygiene practices, rapid urbanization, climate change, population displacement, disease outbreaks, and humanitarian emergencies continue to threaten public health and sustainable development worldwide. Effective WASH program management requires strategic planning, multisectoral coordination, community engagement, engineering solutions, behavior change communication, environmental protection, and strong governance systems. This course introduces internationally recognized frameworks and standards including the Sphere Humanitarian Standards, Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6), World Health Organization (WHO) Water Safety Plans, UNICEF WASH programming approaches, Results-Based Management (RBM), Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM), Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS), humanitarian WASH cluster coordination mechanisms, climate adaptation strategies, and environmental sustainability principles. Participants learn practical approaches for delivering inclusive, resilient, and sustainable WASH programs that improve health outcomes and strengthen institutional capacity.
