Refugee Camp Management Training Course

Course Overview

The Refugee Camp Management Training Course is a comprehensive professional development program designed to equip humanitarian professionals, government officials, UN agencies, NGOs, disaster management authorities, and development practitioners with the advanced knowledge and practical skills required to effectively establish, coordinate, manage, and improve refugee and displacement camp operations. The course focuses on internationally recognized camp management principles, humanitarian coordination, refugee protection, camp administration, emergency preparedness, camp planning, site management, community participation, shelter management, protection mainstreaming, information management, and durable solutions. Participants gain practical competencies to manage refugee camps efficiently while ensuring the dignity, safety, security, and well-being of displaced populations in accordance with international humanitarian law and global protection standards.

With increasing displacement caused by armed conflict, climate change, disasters, political instability, and complex humanitarian emergencies, effective refugee camp management has become essential for delivering coordinated humanitarian assistance and protection services. This training introduces participants to the Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) approach, humanitarian principles, Sphere Standards, refugee registration systems, camp governance, service coordination, resource allocation, emergency response planning, risk management, accountability to affected populations, and multi-sector humanitarian programming. The course emphasizes integrated approaches that strengthen camp resilience, improve operational efficiency, and promote inclusive and sustainable camp management practices.

Throughout the training, participants explore practical strategies for managing shelter, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), health services, food security, education, protection, logistics, security, livelihoods, environmental sustainability, and community engagement within refugee camps. Participants also develop competencies in camp information management, digital registration systems, GIS mapping, monitoring and evaluation, conflict resolution, stakeholder coordination, and humanitarian leadership. Practical exercises, simulations, and case studies provide hands-on experience in addressing operational challenges while ensuring compliance with international humanitarian standards and donor requirements.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will possess the skills required to lead refugee camp operations, coordinate humanitarian actors, strengthen protection systems, improve service delivery, enhance emergency preparedness, and support durable solutions for displaced populations. The knowledge acquired enables organizations to improve humanitarian coordination, optimize resource utilization, strengthen accountability, minimize operational risks, promote community participation, and deliver effective humanitarian assistance in complex emergency environments.
