GBV Prevention and Response Training Course

Course Overview

The GBV Prevention and Response Training Course is designed to equip humanitarian professionals, gender specialists, protection officers, safeguarding practitioners, programme managers, government officials, United Nations personnel, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), international NGOs (INGOs), Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) specialists, social workers, healthcare professionals, legal practitioners, psychosocial support providers, emergency response coordinators, community development officers, and development practitioners with advanced knowledge and practical skills to prevent, mitigate, and respond effectively to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in humanitarian and development settings. The course emphasizes survivor-centered programming, protection mainstreaming, safeguarding, accountability, human rights, gender equality, inclusion, community engagement, and multi-sector coordination. Participants will develop competencies to design, implement, monitor, and evaluate comprehensive GBV prevention and response programmes that strengthen protection systems, improve service delivery, reduce protection risks, and enhance resilience among vulnerable populations.

The training provides in-depth knowledge of international GBV frameworks, including the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Guidelines for Integrating Gender-Based Violence Interventions in Humanitarian Action, the Gender-Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS), the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP), Sphere Humanitarian Standards, Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), safeguarding principles, accountability to affected populations, protection mainstreaming, referral pathways, legal frameworks, case management, psychosocial support, community-based protection, and ethical information management. Through practical simulations, survivor-centered case management exercises, protection risk assessments, coordination planning, digital learning activities, and evidence-based humanitarian case studies, participants will strengthen their capacity to deliver high-quality, confidential, ethical, and coordinated GBV services.

Participants will also explore emerging digital innovations supporting GBV programming, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), mobile case management applications, secure digital referral systems, predictive analytics, digital safeguarding platforms, cloud-based coordination systems, community feedback technologies, remote monitoring, data visualization dashboards, blockchain-enabled identity protection, and confidential information management systems. Emphasis is placed on ethical data governance, confidentiality, informed consent, survivor safety, responsible technology use, and digital protection to strengthen evidence-based programming while maintaining international safeguarding standards.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will possess the strategic leadership, technical expertise, analytical skills, and operational capacity required to establish integrated GBV prevention and response systems that strengthen survivor protection, improve institutional capacity, promote gender equality, enhance safeguarding, support community resilience, strengthen accountability, and improve humanitarian outcomes across emergency, recovery, and development contexts.
