International Humanitarian Assistance Training Course

Course Overview

The International Humanitarian Assistance Training Course is designed to equip humanitarian professionals, government officials, United Nations agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), development practitioners, emergency response coordinators, disaster risk management specialists, donors, humanitarian logisticians, programme managers, policy makers, and community leaders with the knowledge and practical skills required to effectively plan, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate international humanitarian assistance in complex emergencies. As humanitarian crises continue to increase due to armed conflicts, climate change, natural disasters, pandemics, food insecurity, forced displacement, and fragile governance systems, international humanitarian assistance requires coordinated, timely, accountable, and needs-based interventions that comply with international humanitarian principles and global response frameworks. This course provides comprehensive knowledge of international humanitarian assistance, humanitarian coordination mechanisms, disaster response, emergency preparedness, humanitarian logistics, protection, humanitarian financing, international humanitarian law, humanitarian diplomacy, and sustainable recovery while aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), the Sphere Humanitarian Standards, and the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus.

Participants will develop practical competencies in humanitarian needs assessment, emergency preparedness, humanitarian coordination, cluster coordination systems, humanitarian leadership, disaster risk reduction, humanitarian logistics and supply chain management, emergency operations management, donor compliance, humanitarian financing, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL), humanitarian information management, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), digital humanitarian technologies, cash and voucher assistance (CVA), protection programming, refugee response, conflict-sensitive programming, stakeholder engagement, humanitarian negotiation, recovery planning, resilience building, and evidence-based decision-making. The training emphasizes integrating humanitarian principles into emergency response, food security, nutrition, shelter, health, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), education in emergencies, child protection, gender equality, disability inclusion, livelihood recovery, and community resilience. Through practical simulations, humanitarian coordination exercises, emergency planning workshops, collaborative group work, and international humanitarian case studies, participants will strengthen their ability to deliver efficient, coordinated, and accountable humanitarian assistance across diverse operational environments.
