Course Overview

The Community-Based Adaptation Training Course is designed to equip development practitioners, humanitarian professionals, government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), climate change specialists, community leaders, and international development partners with the knowledge and practical skills required to design, implement, monitor, and evaluate community-driven climate change adaptation initiatives. Community-Based Adaptation (CBA) is a participatory approach that empowers vulnerable communities to identify climate risks, strengthen local adaptive capacities, protect livelihoods, conserve ecosystems, and build long-term resilience against the impacts of climate change. This course provides comprehensive knowledge on climate risk assessment, vulnerability analysis, ecosystem-based adaptation, disaster risk reduction, sustainable natural resource management, climate-smart livelihoods, and community resilience planning while aligning with international climate adaptation frameworks and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Participants will develop practical competencies in participatory vulnerability assessments, climate adaptation planning, community mobilization, stakeholder engagement, climate information services, early warning systems, gender-responsive adaptation, disaster preparedness, environmental conservation, livelihood diversification, natural resource governance, monitoring and evaluation, and adaptive management.
