Course Overview

The Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) Management Training Course equips participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in the planning, development, implementation, governance, and management of Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) for efficient geospatial data sharing, interoperability, and evidence-based decision-making. As governments, private organizations, and development agencies increasingly rely on geospatial information to support sustainable development, urban planning, environmental management, disaster risk reduction, land administration, transportation, agriculture, public health, and infrastructure development, Spatial Data Infrastructure has become a critical framework for integrating geographic information across institutions. This course provides participants with a thorough understanding of SDI concepts, geospatial standards, metadata management, geospatial databases, web GIS, cloud GIS, enterprise GIS architecture, and spatial data governance to support national and organizational geospatial initiatives.

The course explores the complete SDI lifecycle, including spatial data acquisition, data quality management, metadata creation, interoperability standards, Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) services, ISO geospatial standards, geospatial data sharing policies, enterprise geodatabases, web mapping services, cloud-based GIS platforms, and spatial data catalog development. Participants will gain practical skills in designing SDI frameworks, implementing geospatial data standards, integrating GIS, GPS, Remote Sensing, and drone-derived datasets, and establishing collaborative geospatial information systems that improve organizational efficiency, policy development, and digital transformation. Emphasis is placed on data governance, cybersecurity, geospatial legislation, open data initiatives, and institutional coordination for sustainable spatial information management.
