Course Introduction

The Most Significant Change (MSC) Technique Training Course is a comprehensive professional development program designed to equip participants with advanced knowledge and practical competencies in participatory monitoring and evaluation, qualitative impact assessment, outcome harvesting, organizational learning, storytelling methodologies, and evidence-based decision-making. In today's complex development environment, governments, donor agencies, international organizations, and civil society institutions increasingly recognize the importance of understanding qualitative changes and unexpected outcomes that conventional monitoring systems may not capture. The Most Significant Change technique is a participatory and story-based evaluation approach that systematically collects and analyzes significant changes experienced by beneficiaries and stakeholders to assess development outcomes and facilitate organizational learning.

The course emphasizes the principles and methodologies of participatory evaluation, qualitative data collection, outcome monitoring, change stories, stakeholder engagement, social accountability, and adaptive management systems. Participants will gain practical knowledge in designing MSC frameworks, defining domains of change, facilitating story collection processes, conducting participatory selection procedures, and analyzing qualitative evidence for performance assessment and strategic learning.
