Maternal and Child Health Monitoring Training Course

Course Introduction

Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Monitoring is a critical component of public health systems, healthcare management, and sustainable development programs aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of women, newborns, infants, and children. Effective maternal and child health monitoring systems provide accurate, timely, and reliable data for evidence-based decision-making, program planning, resource allocation, and policy development. Monitoring maternal and child health indicators enables healthcare providers, governments, development partners, and humanitarian organizations to track progress, identify service gaps, reduce maternal and child mortality, and improve healthcare outcomes.

This Maternal and Child Health Monitoring Training Course provides participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in maternal and child health monitoring frameworks, health information systems, performance indicators, data collection methodologies, monitoring and evaluation systems, health surveillance techniques, and evidence-based reporting. The course emphasizes the use of monitoring systems to strengthen reproductive health programs, maternal healthcare services, neonatal care, child health interventions, immunization programs, nutrition initiatives, and community health programs.

Participants will gain practical competencies in designing maternal and child health monitoring systems, developing key performance indicators, collecting and managing health data, conducting statistical analyses, monitoring program performance, and preparing actionable reports. The course explores digital health technologies, health information management systems, public health surveillance systems, and monitoring frameworks that improve service delivery and strengthen accountability within maternal and child health programs.

Through practical exercises, real-world simulations, case studies, web-based tutorials, and collaborative group work, participants will strengthen their capacity to develop robust maternal and child health monitoring systems that support policy implementation, improve healthcare quality, enhance program performance, and contribute to achieving national and global maternal and child health targets, including the Sustainable Development Goals.
