Course Introduction

Civic Engagement and Citizen Participation is a practical and results-oriented training course designed to strengthen the capacity of governments, civil society organizations, development agencies, community-based organizations, and public institutions to promote inclusive governance, citizen empowerment, public accountability, and participatory decision-making. The course focuses on empowering citizens to actively engage in governance processes while enabling institutions to establish effective mechanisms for public consultation, stakeholder engagement, participatory planning, social accountability, and responsive service delivery. In today's governance environment, meaningful citizen participation is increasingly recognized as a key driver of transparency, democracy, social cohesion, and sustainable development.

The course provides participants with comprehensive knowledge of civic engagement frameworks, participatory governance models, community mobilization techniques, stakeholder mapping, public consultation methodologies, citizen feedback systems, and accountability mechanisms.
