ccTLD Technical Administration Course

Course Description:
The ccTLD Technical Administration Course is designed to equip ICT professionals, network engineers, and domain registry administrators with the knowledge and hands-on skills required to manage and maintain Country Code Top-Level Domains (ccTLDs) effectively. This intensive training covers the technical, operational, and policy aspects of ccTLD management, emphasizing DNS infrastructure, domain registration systems, cybersecurity, DNSSEC, registry automation, and root zone management. Participants will gain insights into the global internet governance framework and best practices for maintaining a secure, stable, and resilient ccTLD ecosystem.

The course provides practical guidance on setting up and managing registry and registrar systems, integrating domain management software, and implementing robust DNS architecture for scalability and reliability. Through real-world examples, participants will explore technical operations, WHOIS management, domain name policies, and IPv6 integration. The training also covers data protection, redundancy planning, and incident response to ensure business continuity and compliance with international standards such as ICANN and IANA policies.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to design, deploy, and manage a fully functional ccTLD registry infrastructure, implement DNSSEC for security, and optimize performance using advanced monitoring tools. This course is ideal for organizations managing national internet domains, regulators, and ICT ministries aiming to strengthen their technical capacity in internet resource administration.

Course Objectives

  1. Understand the structure and governance of Country Code Top-Level Domains (ccTLDs).
  2. Gain proficiency in setting up and managing DNS and registry infrastructure.
  3. Learn about registry-registrar models and domain name life cycle management.
  4. Implement DNSSEC for enhanced ccTLD security.
  5. Apply ICANN and IANA policies in ccTLD operations.
  6. Manage domain registration systems and WHOIS databases.
  7. Ensure data protection and compliance with global internet governance frameworks.
  8. Develop monitoring, redundancy, and disaster recovery plans for ccTLDs.
  9. Integrate IPv6 in DNS systems and registry operations.
  10. Strengthen capacity for technical troubleshooting and incident response.

Organizational Benefits

  1. Enhance technical expertise in national domain management.
  2. Improve operational efficiency in ccTLD registry administration.
  3. Strengthen cybersecurity and DNS resilience against threats.
  4. Ensure policy compliance with ICANN and global standards.
  5. Reduce system downtime through redundancy and monitoring tools.
  6. Improve national internet infrastructure reliability and performance.
  7. Enable better collaboration with registrars and international partners.
  8. Strengthen data integrity and protection for domain registrants.
  9. Foster local capacity development in ICT and internet governance.
  10. Support digital transformation and sovereignty in internet resources.

Target Participants

This course is ideal for ccTLD administrators, ICT managers, network engineers, DNS operators, cybersecurity specialists, regulators, government ICT departments, internet service providers (ISPs), and registry system developers involved in domain management and national internet infrastructure.
