Introduction:

The Application of GIS Analysis in WASH Programmes course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively apply Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) programmes. The course focuses on utilizing GIS tools and techniques to enhance data collection, analysis, and visualization for informed decision-making in WASH projects. Through a combination of theoretical learning and practical exercises, participants will gain hands-on experience in using GIS for mapping water resources, identifying sanitation needs, and improving hygiene interventions.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the role of GIS in WASH programmes and its potential benefits.
  2. Apply GIS tools for data collection, analysis, and visualization in WASH projects.
  3. Utilize GIS techniques to map water resources and assess water availability.
  4. Identify sanitation needs and prioritize interventions using GIS analysis.
  5. Analyze spatial patterns and trends in WASH-related data.
  6. Integrate GIS data with other information sources for comprehensive analysis.
  7. Enhance decision-making processes in WASH programmes through GIS applications.

Organizational Benefits:

Upon completion of this course, organizations can expect the following benefits:

  1. Improved data collection, analysis, and visualization in WASH programmes.
  2. Enhanced understanding of water resource availability and sanitation needs.
  3. Optimized allocation of resources for WASH interventions.
